Ms. Pato Unleashed her Galician roots through her bagpipes, recorder and the piano on Thursday night, not to mention the uber talented band that has been touring with Ms. Pato. She is also a part of the Silk Road Ensemble. "Latina," had audience members swaying and on their feet, by the end of the night. In addition to the San Antonio Mayor, Ivy Taylor speaking prior to the show, and the fabulous acoustics of the cathedral, this event will live on in the city of San Antonio, and the hearts of music enthusiasts. Edward Perez on the bass helped produce much of the odd-time rhythm that mystically whispers of something spanish, italian or lost european. the sound was puro "Latina." Perez was locked into every action of pato, and turned a challenging venue, into an opportunity of warm, subtle but groovy bass. Eric Doob, is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, and earned a 2013 Grammy Nomination on a project he had worked with Manuel Valera. Doob's skill could be heard off the echoing walls of the cathedral, with a combination of sticks and brushes, he displayed how less can truly be more. Presented By: | Cristina Pato's latest album, "Latina," Brought her and her equally mystifying band to San Antonio on May 14th 2015. San Antonio was the second to last show of the Latina tour. The four-piece, with multiple instruments, and unheard sounds of Galicia shook up the San Fernando Cathedral, downtown San Antonio. Christina Pato: Vocals, Bagpipes, Piano, recorder. Eric Doob: Percussion Edward Perez: Bass Victor Prieto: Accordion The Show Was Underwritten by Centeral Texas Pain Center and Organized by Musical Bridges Around The World Mr. Prieto is a native of Galicia, and he has performed at some of the greatest venues. He has also recorded and performed with Yo-Yo Ma. Prieto's versatility and unity with the accordion, truly makes his performance an experience worth capturing. Prieto's sync with Pato's bagpipes creates melodies of unknown origins, and the audience at the cathedral will attest to that. Photos By: |
